Final Project Idea

Hello everyone,
This is my final Project page,here you can find each details about how I develop my project step by step

I made " Biometric Smart Key security System" at vigyan Ashram

°Project development:

°PROBLEM STATEMENT

We have existing key holder at Vigyan Ashram as shown in above image ,we have some problems with existing system

  • 1.We have number of key of different labs,and currently we have to maintain their database manually.
  • 2.Currently we are unable to trace which keys are issued by whom?
  • 2.Unable to trace missing keys.
  • 4.Available key security systems at market costs more.

    °Idea & Purpose

    The Idea is to make automated key security system for data logging and tracing by installing Fingerprint biometric system.To solve the current key missing problem at Vigyan ashram

    °Steps towards solution:

    1.Visulization,Sketch,3d modelling

    Before starting actual work on project I have to start with visualization, sketch & 3 d modelling of project.

    The main part of project includes

    External metal Frame +Laser cutted box + Automation(i.e. Electronic boards)

    ° Making 3D design of box and convert into 2D for laser cut

    First I have made the external frame of metal tube having size 900 X647x 20mm.After that I have to laser cut the covering for it.before cutting I decided the my all side ,top ,bottom & front panel shold cut on black acrylic,door panel shold be transparent and back(keyholder)panel should be of plywood material.I lasercut it accordingly.

    Then I decided the key numbers on back plywood panel should be engrave on laser cutter.

    Then the most interesting part is hook or kry hanger,for this my friends Shubham and Amol told me one mechanism of lever that,I have to make one mount for limit switch and when key is pressed lever will press the limit switch then I will get the signal of which key (limit switch is pressed or at normal position.

    After laser cutting and assembling the limit switch mount I got

    When frame is ready ,engrave is ready I place 25 number of mount on engrave portion of plywood.

    Solenoid valve is fixed inside the door for latching.

    here I have completed major task of laser cutter.



    ° Making 3D design and printing

    Addditive & Substractive methods

    During the 3D printing and othe molding casting weeks assignment,I came to know about the additive & Substractive method of printing,In my final project 3D print(Additive)technique was must for basic neccesary part so I have choosen this.And at the starting I was planning to use substractive method of molding casting for limit switch mount.But somehow in my case I needed 2mount.5 no.of mounts so it was difficult to do it.so I choose simple laser cutting tool for their mount.

    I have decided that I will make hinges,door handle and fingerprint mount on 3 d printer.but my design for hinges were not parametric so it seems to small to bear frame laod so I only 3d print the door handle and fingerprint sensor mount.

    °Making of Electronic pcb board

    Competancy in pcb design:

    WHen I was planning to design the board,I was cleared about which I am gonna use.I needed 4 pins VCC,GND & 2 signal(Tx,RX)pins for fingerprint sensors,4 pins for I2c module,25 pins for limit switch,1 for push button,1 for lock ,etc.So I designed the board accordingly .For detail design & testing the board refer the below input& output device week and design file link below the page.

    As I have made PCB board in INput devices week,so I have to move for second slave board ,I designed it in eagle milled and soldered it.

    I have tested master board in input devices week so now time to merge both board,I tested it using final project programming code

    °Programming

    At the working stage of final product I am accepting.

  • 1.If pushbutton is pressed ask for the new user enrollment.
  • 2.Open the door lock by authorised (enrolled user)using fingerprint sensor.
  • 3.It should display on LCD screen
  • 4.If key is picked or placed microcontroller should scan the system when door is open or closed.
  • This is my agenda while writing the program, as I am not too much familiar with program so Rahul helped me.

    Now,I have completed almost all important part of final project .The next step is to store this fingerprint sensor data and limit switch data on cloud and share this to all authorised user.
